Some news from the beginning of winter... by Laura Tarantola

Follow Laura's latest news, with a preview of the December course in Vaires sur Marne on the Paris 2024 Olympic pool.

Hello to theAMEG GROUP team!

I'm still on schedule 😉 so first of all I would like to wish you and your loved ones a very happy 2023! I hope you had a great holiday season and that this year has kicked off in the best way.

Before talking about this new year, here are some news from the beginning of winter:

On the Paris 2024 Olympic pool

We had a training course in Vaires sur Marne in December, on the pool of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. During this training, we did several races, solo and double. No official competition but an important step in the winter.

Drum roll...

I win the solo race! ☺ And also at the break down confused with the All Categories!!! So this is a great benchmark for me, which validates all the work of this first cycle since the recovery in October.

The training is hard, the days are definitely busier than before with our new program and I'm glad to see that I'm making progress and that it's paying off.

But there is no question of stopping there, this is only the beginning of this very important season (main objective: Olympic qualification in September).

We are now entering the second cycle, which is also much more important and will be the foundation of our summer.

From January to March: A lot of volume, a lot of shadow work to hope to shine in a few months.

A few moments with the family to take a breather at Christmas and here we are again for the French course in Prémanon. We are already there for several days and will be back at the end of January.

On the program: cross-country skiing, rowing, weight training, gainage,... We are lucky to have a little snow but we can't wait for the next flakes!

A typical day

6:40 a.m.: Get up

6:45 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.: morning monitoring (heart rate / hydration / oximeter test)

7am : Breakfast

8am → 9:30am: 20km rowing at different intensities

9:45 am: 2nd breakfast (clearly the best time of the day)

11:00 am → 12:30 pm: Weight training

12.45pm : Lunch

1:15pm → 2:45pm: Nap (again, this is the best time of the day)

3pm: Snack (yes, clearly we only eat)

3:30 pm → 5:15 pm: 20km cross-country skiing

6:00 pm → 6:45 pm: Strengthening/sheathing

7pm : Meal

20h : Care

21h: In bed because we put back it the next day!

Not necessarily the easiest period, time is a little short, fatigue is present, the objectives seem far away, but it is the one where you must not let go!

We are lucky to have a French team that lives very well together, we stick together and we love it!

Next competition: European Indoor Championship, on the rowing machine, on January 28th in Coubertin just after our return from training. We will do everything to be in shape !

Have a nice weekend and see you soon for more news...
