AMEG group in partnership with Laura Tarantola, 2018 World Rowing Champion

Hello to the entire AMEG GROUP team,

Following my visit to your premises and to thank you for accompanying me in my Olympic project, I would like to share with you more details of my adventure so that you can fully take part in it.

To introduce myself in more detail, my name is Laura Tarantola and I am a high-level rowing athlete and a member of the Aviron Grenoblois. I started this sport 12 years ago and I have been in the French team for 8 years now. I row in the lightweight category, where the average crew weight must not exceed 57kg. My greatest performance was my individual World Champion title in 2018, a pride to make the Marseillaise ring out and to bring this title home.

The only Olympic boat in the lightweight category is the double (i.e. two people in the boat), which is why I have been rowing double with my teammate Claire Bové ever since. To live this Olympic dream but also because I have always done this sport to share incredible moments with my teammates. In my opinion, emotions are multiplied tenfold when you can share them.

Last season we were European Vice-Champions and finished 5th at the World Championships. The first 7 boats got their Olympic ticket, so thanks to this 5th place, we qualify the boat for the Tokyo Olympics. We are just a few tenths of a second away from the podium and we are training every day with Tokyo in mind in the hope of bringing home the best medal. Following Covid19, the Olympics have been postponed to the summer of 2021, which only increases our motivation and gives us more time to progress and become even stronger. And with this postponement, we have just learned that the quotas and boats already qualified are not at stake, which is a real relief for us. We will be able to continue working calmly knowing that we are still qualified!

I would like to thank the entire AMEG GROUP team for following me in my adventure and for trusting Triomphe Collectif by supporting the three of us with Théo Poudret and Loann Massard. Team spirit and performance are common values that we share and around which we find ourselves. I want you to know that I will have at heart to make the colours of AMEG Group and France shine at the highest level in Tokyo.
